LazyBounty vs Prolific: a research aggregator and a research platform compared
LazyBounty and Prolific are not competitors; they are different kinds of tools. Prolific is a research platform: academics and companies launch short online surveys and experiments there, and Prolific pays participants at least £6 or $8 an hour, but only residents of the countries on its list. LazyBounty is a free aggregator: it does not run studies or pay for them, it gathers live studies from other platforms, mainly Respondent and uTest, into one feed and shows only the ones you qualify for. Prolific studies are not in the LazyBounty feed, so the best setup is to use both.

In short: what LazyBounty is and what Prolific is
Prolific is a platform where a researcher creates a study, sets who they are looking for and how much they pay, and participants with a matching profile take it inside their Prolific account. Everything happens on Prolific: screening, taking the study, approval and the PayPal payout.
LazyBounty is an aggregator. Every hour we collect open studies from public sources, check their conditions against your profile and show a feed of what you actually qualify for by country and requirements. You apply and get paid on the platform running the study. LazyBounty never holds your money, never screens you and does not charge you.

Where the studies come from
On Prolific every study is created by a specific researcher inside the platform. You only see it if you are logged in and your profile matches its criteria. Prolific does not publish a public list of studies, so no outside service can show them to you in advance.
LazyBounty works with platforms that publish open studies. Today most of the live feed comes from Respondent, which pays for interviews and tasks for product researchers, and uTest, where you test websites and apps. Partner survey panels are added on top. How many studies are open from each source right now is shown on our live statistics page.
So the answer to "is Prolific on LazyBounty" is no. If you live in a country on Prolific’s list, sign up there separately, and LazyBounty adds studies from other platforms that Prolific does not have.
How much they pay
Prolific is one of the few platforms with a published minimum rate: researchers must pay at least £6 or $8 an hour, and Prolific recommends £9 or $12. Most tasks are short, so a single study usually earns a few pounds or dollars, but there are many of them.
On LazyBounty the amount depends on the platform running the study. Interviews on Respondent pay much more per session than surveys on Prolific, but there are fewer of them and screening is stricter. We calculate the median payout across all open studies in our feed live; it is shown at the top of this article and on the statistics page.
One important difference: on Prolific the rate is guaranteed by the platform’s rules, while LazyBounty guarantees nothing, because it does not pay you itself. We show the amount the platform states and make no earnings promises.
Who can take part
Prolific is only open to residents of the countries on its list, which has 52 countries in its help centre and does not include Ukraine. What counts is where you live now, not your citizenship, and verification needs a local document, a phone number and an address.
LazyBounty is open to any country, but not every study is open to everyone. The feed only shows studies whose requirements include your country or the whole world. Someone in Ukraine will see fewer studies than someone in the US or the UK, but they will see the ones that are actually open to them, without wasting time signing up on platforms that will not accept them.
How you find studies and apply
On Prolific you open the studies page and take whatever appears. Places are limited and fill up fast, so people who check often get more. Prolific itself says there are fewer studies at weekends and on holidays, and after a burst of activity you may see fewer for a while because it spreads studies evenly.
On LazyBounty you fill in your profile once: country, languages, job, devices. The feed then shows open studies and explains what matched in the requirements and what is unknown. When you open a study, you go to the platform’s site, take its screener and apply there. We save you the searching; we do not fill in screeners for you.
How and when you get paid
Prolific only pays via PayPal. Money appears in your balance once the researcher approves your submission, and if they stay silent for 22 days Prolific approves it automatically. You can cash out once your approved balance reaches £6 or $6.
With LazyBounty, the money comes directly from the platform that ran the study, under its rules. Respondent, for example, pays with gift cards through Tremendous 7–10 business days after your attendance is confirmed. LazyBounty is not part of that chain and takes no cut.
Risks and limits of each
On Prolific the main risks are a rejected submission and a frozen account. Rushing through a study, failing attention checks, using a VPN, submitting AI-written answers or logging in from outside your country of residence can cost you the payment or your access. The second limit is volume: each study has few places, and newcomers often see an empty studies page in their first weeks.
LazyBounty has a different kind of limit. We only see the requirements a platform has published, so some conditions only come out in its screener, and you can still be screened out there. The feed also depends on how many studies the sources open: in a week when Respondent or uTest publish fewer studies, we have fewer too. Most importantly, LazyBounty has no say in a researcher’s decision; we only show you where it is worth applying.
What both have in common: neither promises a steady income. Paid research is extra money that depends on your profile, your country and how often you check for new opportunities, so treat it as a side income rather than a salary.
Which one suits whom
The choice depends on where you live and what you are looking for.
- you live in a Prolific country and want frequent short surveys without calls: sign up for Prolific
- you want interviews and tests from several platforms in one place: LazyBounty
- you live in Ukraine: Prolific is not available, and LazyBounty shows studies open to your country
- you have a profession or experience that interviews pay for: LazyBounty, since such studies mostly come from Respondent
- you want the most opportunities: use both, Prolific for small frequent income and LazyBounty for the rest of the market
Can you use both?
Yes, and for people in a Prolific country it is the most useful combination. They do not overlap: Prolific gives you its own short studies, LazyBounty gives you studies from other platforms. Platform rules limit second accounts on the same platform, not taking part on different ones.
One rule applies everywhere: keep your profile and screener answers consistent. Contradictions between platforms lower your chances of being selected and can cost you an account.
Questions and answers

No. LazyBounty is a free aggregator: it finds studies on other platforms and shows the ones you qualify for. The platform running the study conducts it and pays you, not LazyBounty.
Are Prolific studies on LazyBounty?
No. Prolific only shows its studies inside a participant account. The LazyBounty feed has studies from Respondent, uTest and partner survey panels.
Which is better from Ukraine, LazyBounty or Prolific?
Prolific is not available to residents of Ukraine. LazyBounty shows studies whose requirements include Ukraine or the whole world, so from Ukraine LazyBounty is the realistic option.
How much does LazyBounty cost?
Nothing. The feed is free, and the reward is paid by the platform running the study, with no cut taken by LazyBounty.
Can I use LazyBounty and Prolific at the same time?
Yes. They do not overlap: Prolific gives you its own short surveys, LazyBounty gives you studies from other platforms. Just keep your profile consistent everywhere.
