How LazyBounty collects and counts its data

In short

Every number on LazyBounty is our own count of the open studies that platforms publish for participants. We do not run studies, we do not pay participants and we take no commission from their rewards. Every figure on the site carries a date, because the catalogue changes daily.

Where the studies come from

We collect open listings from platforms that publish studies for participants. The main sources today are Respondent (interviews, focus groups, tests) and uTest (software testing). Other platforms are covered in our reviews from their official help pages, but their tasks do not enter the catalogue: they are only visible inside each platform's own account.

Every study is checked against its platform every hour. Closed or withdrawn studies are removed from the catalogue. Internal and test records are excluded from all counts.

How we calculate

Amounts are the reward the platform states in the listing, not confirmed payouts. Pay figures use only studies where the platform stated both an amount in US dollars and a duration.

The median is the middle value of the sorted list: half of the studies pay less, half pay more. The hourly rate is the amount divided by the stated duration. Format, study type and audience (professionals or general consumers) come from the platform's own fields.

Country access comes from the listing's conditions: a study counts as open to a country if the platform named that country, a region that includes it, or the whole world.

What each number on the site means

Open studies are those published on the platform and accepting applications at the moment of counting. Added this week are those that entered the catalogue in the last seven days. Countries is how many countries are named in the conditions of open studies.

The median and average reward are calculated only over studies with an amount in US dollars. In our catalogue the average is higher than the median, because a few expensive studies for narrow specialists pull it up, so we recommend the median as a guide.

How we check facts about platforms

Platform conditions (minimum rate, payout method and timing, participant requirements, country lists) come only from the platforms' official help centres and pages, never from reviews or other people's roundups. Every article lists its sources and the date they were checked.

Platforms change their terms without notice, so we recheck key articles. If you spot a difference from an official page, write to [email protected]: we will correct the text and update the check date.

What our numbers do not show

How much a person earns per month. To receive a reward you have to pass the screener, and most applications to narrow studies are rejected. Time spent searching and filling in screeners is not included.

The whole market. We only see open listings from platforms that publish them. Survey panels and platforms whose tasks live inside a logged-in account are not included.
