LazyBounty vs User Interviews: a research aggregator and a research platform compared
User Interviews is a large platform where researchers recruit participants for interviews, focus groups, diary studies, surveys and tests: by its own figures more than 5,000 studies launch every month, paying over $45 on average, but you can only take part from the 34 countries on its list, which does not include Ukraine. LazyBounty is a free aggregator: it does not run studies or pay for them, it gathers live studies from Respondent, uTest and partner survey panels into one feed and shows the ones you qualify for. User Interviews studies are not in the LazyBounty feed, so the two complement each other.

In short: what LazyBounty is and what User Interviews is
User Interviews is a participant recruitment platform. A researcher publishes a study, participants with a matching profile take a screener, selected people are invited, and the reward arrives after the session. The platform is now part of UserTesting but runs separately, with its own participant account.
LazyBounty is an aggregator. Every hour we collect open studies from public sources, check their requirements against your profile and show a feed of what you qualify for by country and requirements. You apply and get paid on the platform running the study. LazyBounty never holds money, never screens you and charges participants nothing.

Where the studies come from
User Interviews studies are only visible to registered participants in their account, and the platform does not allow automated collection. So they are not in the LazyBounty feed, and no honest outside service can show them to you without logging in to User Interviews.
LazyBounty works with platforms that publish open studies: mainly Respondent, with paid interviews, and uTest, with website and app testing, plus partner survey panels. How many studies are open from each source right now is shown on our live statistics page.
So the two do not overlap: User Interviews gives you its own studies, LazyBounty gives you studies from other platforms. If you live in a User Interviews country, it is worth having an account there and using the LazyBounty feed for the rest of the market.
How much they pay
By its own figures User Interviews pays over $45 per study on average. The ranges by format are wide: a short survey or test from $20, an online focus group from $40 to $200 or more, a diary study over several days from $55 to $400 or more, and an in-person session up to $1,000.
On LazyBounty the payout depends on the platform running the study. We calculate the median, the average and the number of studies paying $50 or more across our whole feed live: these numbers are at the top of this article and on the statistics page. The amount is always the one the platform states, and LazyBounty makes no earnings promises.
Who can take part
User Interviews only accepts participants from the 34 countries on its list, and Ukraine is not one of them. At the start, as our review of the platform found, it is realistic to expect one or two invitations in six months, especially without a rare profession.
LazyBounty is open to any country and shows studies whose requirements include your country or the whole world. For someone in Ukraine that means a smaller but real choice: only studies that will actually accept them, without signing up on platforms that are closed to their country.
How you find studies and apply
On User Interviews you browse open studies in your account and get emails about new ones. Before taking part you complete a screener, and the platform advises answering honestly and consistently, because contradictions lower your chances of being selected.
On LazyBounty you fill in your profile once, and the feed shows which published requirements match and which are unknown. When you open a study, you go to the platform’s site, take its screener and apply there. We cut down the searching, but the researcher decides who is selected.
How and when you get paid
User Interviews usually sends the reward within a day or two of the session, and at most within 10 business days. Most often it is a gift card through Tremendous, but some studies are paid by the researcher with their own method.
With LazyBounty, the money comes directly from the platform that ran the study, under its rules. Respondent, for example, pays with Tremendous gift cards 7–10 business days after attendance is confirmed, with 5% deducted. LazyBounty is not part of that and takes no fee.
How LazyBounty decides what you qualify for
We check your profile only against the requirements the platform has published: country, languages, age, profession, devices. If a requirement matches, the feed says so. If the platform did not state a requirement, we do not count it as a match; we mark it as unknown, so you do not spend time on false hope.
A full-match label only appears when your country is explicitly confirmed in the study’s requirements. That rule came from our own mistake: missing requirements used to count as a match, and a person in Ukraine saw a "perfect match" on a US-only study. That no longer happens.
The final decision always belongs to the platform’s screener and the researcher. The LazyBounty feed is a filter that removes what is clearly out of reach, not a promise that you will be selected.
How to get started, step by step
If you want to use both services, the order is simple.
- sign up for LazyBounty for free and fill in your profile: country, languages, job, devices
- open the feed and see which studies are open to your country right now
- if you live in one of the 34 User Interviews countries, open an account there too: its studies are not in the LazyBounty feed
- fill in your profiles on every platform the same way: contradictions lower your chances of being selected
- check the feed a few times a week: open studies close fast, often within days
Risks and limits of each
On User Interviews the main limits are country and how often you are invited. Outside the 34 listed countries you cannot sign up, and inside the list a newcomer without a rare profile can wait months for invitations. Careless or contradictory screener answers can limit your access to future studies.
LazyBounty has different limits. We only see published requirements, so some conditions only come out in the platform’s screener. The feed depends on how many studies the sources open. And we have no say in a researcher’s decision: the feed suggests where to apply; it does not guarantee a place.
Which one suits whom
The choice depends on your country and how many platforms you are willing to track.
- you live in one of the 34 User Interviews countries: open an account there, it is one of the largest flows of studies
- you want interviews and tests from several platforms in one feed: LazyBounty
- you live in Ukraine: User Interviews is not available, and LazyBounty shows studies open to your country
- you want the most opportunities: use both, User Interviews for its own studies and LazyBounty for Respondent, uTest and panels
