Clickworker review: microtasks and how you get paid

What Clickworker is

Clickworker splits large company orders into small tasks done by people around the world. It has been running for over 15 years and offers work in the browser and in a phone app. One important detail: the app and the browser version often show different projects, so it is worth checking both.

Besides its own tasks, Clickworker gives access to UHRS, a separate microtask system it partners with. UHRS earnings are credited to your Clickworker account, but Clickworker has no influence on the volume or type of work there.

Types of tasks

On its page for workers, Clickworker lists these kinds of work.

• AI training: rating, labelling and comparing answers
• surveys of various kinds
• short texts and product descriptions on a given topic
• researching data and addresses of companies, restaurants and other places
• store visits: photographing products on shelves and uploading the photos
• app testing, photos, and short audio and video recordings on your phone

Signing up: country and real details

You can register in the app or in a browser: you enter your country of residence, native language, gender, date of birth and a username, then confirm your email. You will need the app to log in either way.

Clickworker temporarily closes registration for countries where it already has enough workers or where clients offer very little work. If your country is not listed during sign-up, the platform suggests trying again later. It does not publish a list of open countries.

Your details must be real and complete. Accounts with wrong information are closed until the matter is cleared up, and for knowingly false information they are closed for good, with earnings unpaid, since money can only go to the registered person. Registering someone else, even a relative, and sharing your login are not allowed.

Profile and qualification tests

Your profile determines which tests and tasks you are offered. For example, only people who list Spanish see Spanish assessments. So list every language and field of knowledge you genuinely know. Do not invent anything: the platform runs quality checks, and false claims end in rejected work or suspension.

Most projects require passing an assessment. Some can be retaken, but not sooner than 60 days later, and some cannot be retaken at all. Clickworker advises taking them when you can concentrate, not in a hurry.

Why there are no jobs

An empty job list is normal, and the platform gives three reasons: you have not taken the required assessments or scored below the minimum; current jobs are only for specific groups, such as native speakers or specialists; or there is simply little work at the moment.

Each task has its own time limit, which starts when you begin. If the timer reaches zero, the task is cancelled and lost. Skipping jobs in large projects has no negative consequences as long as enough other jobs are available.

How much Clickworker pays

Pay per task ranges from a few cents to double-digit euro amounts, and you see it before you start. It is based on the average processing time, difficulty, text length, amount of research and special knowledge required. The rate is the same for everyone, but the hourly result differs: faster workers earn more. Complex jobs often take time to learn but pay more.

Your monthly earnings depend on two things: how much time you put in and how many suitable projects you are offered. Both vary, so the amount may come in above or below your expectations. Clickworker says explicitly that work on the platform should not be treated as a substitute for full-time employment or self-employment.

When earnings become payable

For most jobs, the fee is credited to your balance immediately. But some projects credit 0 at first and add the payment manually once the client accepts your work.

• UHRS jobs appear in your report within 20 minutes; the week’s earnings from Sunday to Saturday are credited at the start of the next week and become payable 39 days later
• store visits become payable after 30 days; if the client rejects some photos, the pay for them is deducted
• for store visits you must upload the photos to both the client’s app and the Clickworker app, or you will not be paid

Payout methods and timing

Payouts run weekly and automatically, with no request needed. Anything below the minimum is carried over to the next week.

Four conditions for getting paid

The platform lists the conditions without which a payout will not go through. Your money is not lost in the meantime: it stays in your balance until you meet all four.

• complete payment details: PayPal must be yours, verified and able to receive euros; the bank linked to Payoneer must be active and accept international transfers
• the minimum for your chosen method is reached by the start of the bill run
• tax details: state whether you are self-employed or a freelancer; EU residents give their tax identification number
• payments are not on hold: after every change to your account details they are paused until you confirm the change via the email link

Rules that get accounts blocked

New accounts go through automatic checks for correct data and duplicates. If anything looks suspicious, the account is temporarily suspended and you may be asked for documents proving your identity, address, phone number or tax details. Document checks take up to 14 days.

Logging in from a country other than your registered one also flags the account: it may be temporarily blocked with a request for documents, and some projects are unavailable while you are abroad. For a longer trip, the platform asks you to contact support in advance to change your address.

Clickworker from Ukraine

There is no published ban on Ukraine, but open registration for a country is not guaranteed: Clickworker closes it where there is little work. You can only check during sign-up. The platform advises checking the payment details section before you start working to see which methods are available to you, and not registering if none of them works.

For people in Ukraine, PayPal and Payoneer are the realistic options. SEPA is available only in EU countries, so Ukrainians living in Poland or Germany also get payouts to a local bank account. PayPal must be able to receive euros, and free receiving into Ukrainian accounts is a temporary PayPal arrangement until 30 September 2026 inclusive.

Pros and cons

Clickworker is the easiest way into online earning, but it also pays the smallest amounts per task.
