Paid interviews for professionals and executives: where expertise pays
If you have professional experience in IT, finance, healthcare, law, sales or management, you can earn far more from research than a regular participant. Platforms openly advise clients to pay professionals more: Respondent’s US examples range from $100 to $600 for a remote interview depending on seniority, dscout suggests $150–600 for 15–30 minutes with an executive or clinician, and Prolific recommends $30–100 an hour for verified experts. What matters is a profile that gets you found and proof that you are who you say you are.
Why professionals are paid more
CleverX explains the logic in its rate guide for researchers: professionals give up billable work time, so the incentive has to reflect that. By CleverX’s estimate, B2B rates typically run 3 to 10 times consumer rates and rise with seniority.
Keep in mind that these are benchmarks platforms give to clients, not guaranteed rates for you. You see the actual amount in the study description before you apply. One detail from the same guide: for a 30-minute session CleverX suggests paying about half the hourly rate, sometimes slightly more, because participants carry a fixed time cost regardless of how long the session lasts.
| Who | Per hour | Per 30-minute interview |
|---|---|---|
| consumers | $25–75 | $25–50 |
| B2B professionals | $75–250 | $75–150 |
| directors and VPs | $200–500+ | $150–300 |
| executives and hard-to-reach experts | $500–1,500+ | $300–750+ |
What other platforms recommend
Respondent advises clients to pay professionals at least double their hourly rate and gives US examples: a remote interview with an individual contributor at $100, a team lead at $200, a director at $300 and a C-level executive at $600. For engineers and developers it suggests $100–175, and for physicians from $500.
dscout suggests budgeting $150–600 for just 15–30 minutes with an executive, clinician or engineer. Prolific recommends researchers pay verified domain experts $30–100 an hour. The figures differ because the formats differ: a short interview with an executive costs more than an hour of reviewing code.
Respondent: a work email unlocks B2B
Respondent splits studies into consumer (B2C) and professional (B2B). For B2B you need to verify a work email on your company’s domain. Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud and other generic addresses do not count, while your own business domain does. The work email must be re-verified every 90 days and is not shown to researchers without your consent.
Researchers pick participants by job title, industry, tools, company size, region, time zone, languages and availability. The platform advises using your full job title, such as "Product Manager" rather than "PM", adding seniority if accurate, and listing the tools you use weekly. Your screener answers must match your profile: a mismatch lowers your chances.
Without a work email you cannot get into B2B studies for now: Respondent says it is the only way, and it uses LinkedIn and experience data only to match you to consumer studies. So freelancers and business owners should set up an email on their own domain rather than Gmail.
Respondent deducts 5% from each incentive, minimum $1, and payouts arrive about 7–10 business days after attendance is confirmed, mostly as Tremendous gift cards.
CleverX: a platform for business participants
CleverX is a research platform that finds participants for its clients. For professional audiences that ordinary panels cannot reach, its own recruitment team sources, verifies and books professionals, while consumer and general business audiences come through partner panels. Signing up as a participant is free, with email or LinkedIn. The platform recommends importing your public LinkedIn profile — experience, education and summary — and then adding your expertise and hourly rate.
There are two ways to earn: get invited by researchers, or apply yourself to open paid studies with one click. Researchers filter participants by location, industry, expertise, seniority, role, company data and screener answers, and CleverX’s algorithm invites people who fit.
How CleverX pays
After a successful study, the incentive lands in your CleverX wallet and you get an email. You withdraw through its partner Tremendous: gift cards, bank transfer, PayPal, a prepaid Visa card, Stripe or a charity donation — over 2,000 options across more than 200 countries.
Interviews and product tests are mostly paid within 48–72 hours, sometimes 7–10 days. Surveys can take days or weeks: they are large studies with hundreds or thousands of responses, and each one is checked for quality, truthfulness and the use of AI. For payout questions, CleverX suggests writing to its team lead at [email protected].
- payment may be held while the truthfulness of responses is validated
- or while responses are checked for AI use, especially open-ended ones
- incomplete responses or unfinished tasks are not paid
- nor are late arrivals to interviews
Prolific: the Domain Experts programme
On Prolific, professionals can become verified Domain Experts: lawyers, programmers, financial advisors, healthcare workers, AI red teamers and highly fluent language speakers. They receive studies that need their knowledge, such as reviewing code or giving professional insight in law, healthcare or finance.
You cannot apply separately: if your profile looks like a fit, Prolific invites you to verification — document checks, qualifications, online profiles. So keep your answers about education, languages and skills up to date. Signing up again through external adverts is not allowed, since it creates a duplicate account, and misrepresenting skills can lead to a permanent ban. But Prolific is available only in listed countries, and Ukraine is not among them.
For testers: uTest
If testing is your profession, experience also turns into higher income. On uTest a higher rating brings higher pay and more invitations, and experienced members can apply to become Test Team Leads. That requires 6 months on the platform, 100 approved bug reports, 30 test cases and a Bronze, Silver or Gold rating. uTest publishes no list of banned countries and pays via PayPal or Payoneer, both of which work from Ukraine.
How to set up a professional profile
The platforms’ advice lines up, and you can act on it in an evening.
- a full, standard job title and seniority, with no abbreviations
- industry, company size and the tools you use now
- LinkedIn with current experience: CleverX imports it and uses it for trust, Respondent for matching
- a real photo: CleverX says it helps researchers link the profile to a real person
- a work email on your company domain for Respondent’s B2B studies
- every language you can be interviewed in
What not to do
Professionals are paid for the truth about their experience, so platforms check it closely. CleverX says it plainly: be truthful about your industry, expertise, role and screener answers, or the system will flag you. Apply only where you can genuinely contribute useful insight.
Do not write answers with AI. CleverX explains that researchers’ workflows can tell generated answers from genuine ones, and such answers may not be approved. Respondent’s code of conduct also bans AI-generated answers, duplicate accounts and impersonation. And do not open a second account: Prolific’s external adverts for experts are only for new people, and duplicates are not allowed.
Realistic expectations
High rates do not mean frequent invitations. Respondent says earnings are not guaranteed or daily, and you are paid only for studies you are selected for. The narrower your expertise, the rarer but better-paid the invitations.
For people in Ukraine, the most realistic options are Respondent, which works in more than 150 countries without a published list, CleverX with Tremendous payouts, and uTest. Bear in mind that most clients look for professionals in the US and Europe, and almost all interviews are in English.
