Paid user interviews: paid research studies
A paid user interview is a conversation with a researcher about your experience, work or habits, not a job interview. LazyBounty is a free paid-research aggregator that brings invitations into one feed and lets you see terms before applying. Selection depends on whether your real profile fits the project being recruited now.

What you are paid to do in an interview
Companies and researchers speak with people when they need to understand how they choose a service, use a product or solve a work problem. Questions can cover purchases, finance, health, software, professional experience or everyday habits. There are no desired answers: your specific experience and your reason for acting a certain way are what matter.
The format can be a one-to-one call, video meeting, phone conversation or a few short tasks before and after the interview. An interview differs from a survey because the moderator can ask follow-up questions and explore a point further. It is not consulting either: your payment is for participating, not for selling expertise.
Why selection is so specific
For paid research studies, a client often needs a small group: people with a particular work role, recent purchase, household type or experience with a service. A screener checks those signals along with country, language, availability at the required time and willingness to be recorded.
Do not inflate your job title, spending or experience to pass. A researcher will usually explore those details on the call, and an untrue screener can mean cancelled participation without payment. Keep your profile current, answer briefly and consistently, and do not rush through a screener.
How much interviews pay and why it varies
Pay does not rise automatically with the length of a call. It depends on how rare the profile is, the topic, country, urgency, need for professional experience and any extra task. In LazyBounty’s Respondent sample on 26 October 2026, the median payout is $30, the maximum is $750, median duration is 30 minutes and 17% of studies pay $100 or more. This describes the sample, not a promise for every application.
The estimated average rate in that sample is about $70 an hour, but it excludes time spent searching and screening and does not guarantee selection. A particularly high amount may mean rare professional criteria or several stages. Reserve time on the basis that a screener can decline you, not as guaranteed side income.
Preparing for the call and applying
Read the topic, time zone, language, whether a camera is required and whether the conversation will be recorded. Prepare a quiet place, headphones, power and a few examples from your experience. You do not need rehearsed answers: a natural story with specifics, including frustration or failure, is more useful to a researcher.
On a LazyBounty card, check format, stated payment, duration and requirements, then filter the feed for interviews. You apply on the platform itself after registration. We do not decide who is selected, run the call or transfer the reward.
Taking part without unnecessary risk
It is normal for a screener to ask about relevant experience. It is not normal to request a fee, password, CVV, SMS code or an unknown program. Do not send work documents, client data or confidential material, even if the subject relates to your profession.
In our source data dated 26 October 2026, about 97% of Respondent studies are marked remote. That is convenient but it does not replace checking the terms: make sure the link leads to the platform and that payment rules are clear. If the arrangement changes after screening, ask the platform’s support in writing.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
What is a paid user interview?
It is a paid conversation with a researcher about your experience or views. It is not a vacancy or a sale of consulting.
Do I need to be an expert?
Not always. Many studies need ordinary users, while others need a particular profession or experience.
Why did I not pass the screener?
Places are limited and criteria are specific. Honest answers improve the fit of future invitations.
Who pays for the interview?
The platform running the study arranges payment. LazyBounty shows the opportunity and routes you to apply.
