Paid research studies in the Netherlands
From the Netherlands you can join Prolific, User Interviews, Askable, TestingTime, UserTesting and uTest. What they pay, how to get euros and which languages studies use.
What is available
The Netherlands is on the official country lists of Prolific, User Interviews and Askable (checked on 15 September 2026) and among TestingTime’s core countries, alongside Switzerland, Germany, France, Austria and the UK, where the platform says most invitations go. Respondent says it works in 150+ countries but does not publish a list.
Prolific guarantees a minimum rate: researchers must pay at least £6 or $8 an hour, and £9 or $12 is recommended. The platform checks the rate against the actual median completion time, and you see what each study pays before you start.
TestingTime says it pays €40 per study on average, and a typical study takes 30 to 90 minutes. It pays most for in-person sessions, less for video interviews and least for online surveys.
In our catalogue on 15 September 2026, residents of the Netherlands could join 13 of the 142 live uTest projects. For comparison, France had 16, Germany 18 and the UK 28.
Where to start as a beginner. Prolific is the only platform with a published minimum rate, and you see what each study pays before you start. User Interviews says more than 5,000 studies launch on the platform every month: interviews, focus groups, diaries and surveys, including in-person sessions. Askable lets you create an account from age 13, but paid studies require an identity check that confirms you are 18 or over. Sign up on two or three platforms with different formats and fill in your profile completely: invitations arrive irregularly, and several platforms give a steadier flow.

How the money arrives
Most platforms pay through PayPal: UserTesting about 14 days after the test, Prolific once your approved balance reaches the cash-out minimum. TestingTime pays to PayPal or a bank account by IBAN about 10 business days after you request it and covers the PayPal fee. Clickworker pays straight to a bank account in SEPA countries.
Platforms do not withhold tax: UserTesting says outright that you must report the income yourself, as required in your country. Keep a record of payouts from every platform, and check with the tax office or an accountant how this income is treated in the Netherlands.
Which language
Dutch is not among UserTesting’s languages: it supports English, French and German. For a resident of the Netherlands with fluent English that is no obstacle, and German opens German-language tests as well.
The other large platforms work mostly in English: Askable only in English, and PlaytestCloud requires commentary in English. Prolific lets you take a language check and receive studies that need that language, Dutch included.
What to watch out for
Your PayPal and profile country must match where you live, and Prolific checks your location: do not use a VPN.
TestingTime’s in-person studies take place at the client’s premises, so your city matters. The platform may stop inviting people who do not show up, so cancel in advance and only for a good reason.
An honest word on earnings: TestingTime itself says you can earn some money with every test, but not enough to make a living. Invitations arrive irregularly and depend on your profile, so treat this as a side income, not a main one.
