Paid research studies from Ukraine: which platforms accept Ukrainians

In short: three groups of platforms

We went through the participant help pages of each platform and wrote down what it says about countries. The check date is 11 September 2026. Lists change, so the link to every source is at the end of the article.

The platforms fall into three groups. The first publishes a closed list of countries, and Ukraine is not on it. The second accepts people from anywhere but sets other conditions: language, equipment, PayPal. The third does not ban anyone formally, yet registration or payouts depend on the country, and you only see that inside your account.

Where Ukraine is not listed: Prolific, User Interviews, Askable

Prolific publishes an exact list of countries where you can take part: the United States, the United Kingdom, most EU countries, Japan, Brazil and others, more than fifty in total. Ukraine is not on it. People from countries outside the list can join a waitlist, but Prolific says plainly that access is not guaranteed. Occasionally it invites participants from unsupported countries, and then it asks for a photo ID, ideally a passport.

User Interviews, now part of UserTesting, keeps a list of supported countries in its help centre. It includes Poland, Germany, Czechia, Romania, Bulgaria and other EU countries, but not Ukraine. You can still create an account from an unsupported country; the platform promises to let you know when it starts recruiting in your region.

Askable recruits in 42 countries, among them Poland, Germany, Czechia, Slovakia and Romania, but not Ukraine. Sign-up, applications and messages on Askable are in English only; you can translate pages in your browser.

Where there is no country list: UserTesting, Userlytics, PlaytestCloud

Asked "does it matter where I live?", UserTesting answers "no" and welcomes contributors from around the world. The real limit is language. Tests run in English, French or German, and you need to speak, read and write fluently in at least one of them. Payments go only to a verified PayPal account, about 14 days after the test.

Userlytics puts it even more simply: if your country supports PayPal, you should have no trouble taking part. There is no other payout method. PayPal does work for personal accounts in Ukraine, but under a special temporary arrangement; see our article on getting paid in Ukraine.

PlaytestCloud, a game testing platform, lets you sign up from any country. It is also honest that most playtests today are for players in the USA, the UK and Canada, so players elsewhere get fewer invites, less often. You comment on the game in English, and your device has to be set to English as well.

Where your account decides: Clickworker, uTest, TestingTime

Clickworker works with many countries but temporarily turns off registration where it already has enough workers or little client demand. If your country is missing from the sign-up form, it suggests trying again later. It also asks you to check the payout methods before you start working: if none of them works for you, it cannot pay you.

uTest accepts testers aged 18 and over and does not publish a list of excluded countries. Payouts go through PayPal, Payoneer or a direct bank transfer powered by Wise. The direct transfer is not available for Ukraine: the Wise country list includes Poland, Germany and Lithuania, but not Ukraine. That leaves PayPal and Payoneer.

TestingTime does not close other countries, but names Switzerland, Germany, France, Austria, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands as its core markets. That is where it has the most clients and therefore the most invitations.

Ukrainians living in Poland and Germany

For people who live in the EU the picture is different. Prolific states that eligibility is based on where you currently live, not your nationality. If you live in Poland or Germany, Ukrainian citizenship is not an obstacle.

Poland and Germany are on the lists of Prolific, User Interviews and Askable, and Germany is also a core market for TestingTime. Moving opens several platforms at once that are closed from inside Ukraine.

• Prolific needs an ID issued by your country of residence: a residence permit card or a visa page with your photo; a Ukrainian passport will not be accepted if you live in Poland or Germany
• the phone number has to be local too: Prolific does not accept numbers with another country code or VOIP numbers
• put the country where you actually live in your profile and keep your payout account there
• for in-person studies the city matters: invitations go where the client runs sessions
• taxes on this income abroad are covered in separate articles for Poland and Germany

Documents: when a platform checks your identity

The country in your profile is not just a checkbox. Prolific lets only people with a verified account take part, and asks those it invites from unsupported countries for a photo ID, ideally a passport, because its verification partner may not accept other documents.

TestingTime does not ask for ID at sign-up, only when you are likely to be selected for a study whose client requires it. Verification runs through Veriff: a selfie plus one photo ID showing your full name, such as a passport, driving licence, national ID or residence permit. For Ukrainians in the EU this matters, because a residence permit counts. TestingTime says verified users are more likely to be selected, including for higher-paying studies.

Why working around the rules with a VPN is a bad idea

The temptation is obvious: switch on a VPN and pick another country. Platforms check for exactly that. PlaytestCloud’s code of conduct bans software that masks your location, says its fraud prevention systems catch it, and bans the account. You may only record tests while in the country stated in your profile.

The second obstacle is money. Payouts go to an account verified in your name: PayPal, Payoneer, a bank. An account in one country and a profile in another is a reason to stop a payout. In the worst case you lose both the account and the money you already earned.

How to start from Ukraine, step by step

The order that leads to the fewest disappointments.

• open a personal PayPal account and verify it: neither UserTesting nor Userlytics can pay you without it
• start with platforms that do not restrict countries: UserTesting if you speak English confidently, PlaytestCloud if you play games
• join uTest if you are ready to learn testing: it pays for bugs you find, and both Payoneer and PayPal are available
• create a User Interviews profile in advance so you hear when Ukraine opens
• before filling in a screener, reread the country requirement: it is the most common reason for rejection

How much you can realistically earn

Do not count on a full salary. Prolific says it is not intended to be a full-time job. TestingTime says your earnings will not be enough to make a living, because invitations arrive irregularly. A participant in Ukraine gets even fewer invitations, since some studies look for people from specific countries.

A realistic goal is extra income. According to our pay report, a typical study in our catalogue pays $40, and half of all studies pay between $20 and $95. How many of them fit you depends on your country, language and profile.
